A big part of the challenge was communicating that this isn’t ad for a trip, but for an expo celebrating trips. And how do we show that this expo won’t just give you an idea for a vacation - It’ll empower you to craft your own dream getaway?
The centerpiece of this project was the poster - going for a more custom look, it was assembled in real life using cutouts and illustrations.
Also - clothing! Branded, but in a way that makes them acceptable to wear in normal life - not embarrassing or tacky.
This includes branded wristbands for the event.
Literally being cutouts, the created assets were highly modular - easily able to be used and reused in different configurations.
I took an offscreen approach to visually capture the essence of crafting the perfect vacation.
I illustrated key vacation elements and cut out iconic travel destinations, assembling them on a sandy beach scene. This arrangement mirrors the experience of an attendee piecing together their dream getaway, just as they would at the expo—mixing and matching destinations, experiences, and insights to build their ideal trip.
In the end, the patchwork nature of the design ended up coming in handy!
